As above, so below – Syncretism in Vilcabamba, Ecuador

Four men on their paths meet in Vilcabamba, Ecuador.  This reminds me of Syncretism as relates to synchronicity, like a perfect moment manifest in the land of longevity.

As above, as below,” originates in the Hermetic writings of Hermes Trismegistus in ancient Egypt.  With it’s sister verse, “As within, so without,” these are foundational principles, woven into the stories of humankind from the dawn of recorded history.

William Blake referred to these principles when he wrote:

To see the world in a grain of sand,

And a heaven in a wild flower,

Hold infinity in the palm of your hand,

And eternity in an hour.

~William Blake, Auguries of Innocence

I’d like to thank these four people for their clarity and insight.  I’d also like to thank Annette for providing a channel for the logos and mythos.

Daren Clayton couldn’t have said it better when he advocated for cooperation over competition.  And, I agree with Keung Man’s ideas about combining ancient agricultural practices and new technologies to create sustainable future farming practices.  Healthy soil is essential to the long term health and wealth of crops. As an extension of that, we are what we eat.

I look forward to seeing the upcoming film “Syncretism”, that Santos Bonacci and Johnny Guzman are working on.  This shared experience exists for me in the realm of Jupiter(philosophy) in balance with Neptune(vision) and Pluto(power), in accord with Bonacci’s description of the three realms of ego.
