Ensemble Theatre of Chattanooga premieres an original work called ‘Sight for Sore Eyes’ on March 8th.     The following is from the press release:

Ensemble Theatre of Chattanooga (ETC) will open ‘Sight For Sore Eyes’, its third production of the 2013 season, on Friday, March 8, 2013. The production runs March 8-24, 2013. Performance times are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 PM and Sundays at 2:30 PM. All performances will be held at the theatre’s space inside Eastgate Town Center at 5600 Brainerd Road.

Sight For Sore Eyes features Hunter Rodgers as Martin, a young man facing drastic change as teacher, husband, and new father due to a degenerative eye disease. The ensemble cast also includes Andrea-Taylor Ward as his wife, Mackenzie Young as his daughter, Dakota Brown as his best friend, and Robbye Lewis as his mother. The actors also assume a variety of other roles as Martin internally processes the challenge facing him. Christy Gallo and John Thomas Cecil co-direct the production, and Casey Keelen is stage manager.

The actors, directors, and technical crew created this original work through a combination of improvised scenes, stream of consciousness journaling, and scripting. “In all my experience in the theatre, I think by far my favorite aspect is its collaborative nature,” says co-director John Thomas Cecil. “Multiple people bringing different trainings, skills, and passions to the table always make for an amazing theatrical experience. And the best part of creating a completely new work like Sight For Sore Eyes has been just that. We started this rehearsal process with nothing but an idea, a cast, and a team of writers to create an all-new work. The fruits of our labor are proving to be very rewarding, though at times quite challenging.”

Tickets are $15 for General Admission and $10 for students with a valid student ID.
