BBC Series, “Alice’s Incredible Journey” –
Dr. Alice Roberts traces the roots of Australia’s ancient humans. She begins by examining footprints, estimated to be 60,000 years old that have been uncovered in Australia. With a BBC film crew in tow, Roberts traces the routes that she believes successive generations of human ancestors would have taken when migrating from Africa.
In Malaysia, Dr. Roberts takes viewers to the cave of Flores, where the bones of an ancient, miniature, human-like woman have been found.
In the final stretch of the film, she embarks on a slightly harrowing journey aboard a bamboo raft, made of only primitive materials, across deep ocean waters back to Australia.
