France 24 International News reports from the AFP that people in Syria are looking to astrology and fortune telling for signs of hope amidst war and destruction.   Here’s more from the report:

“Tired of failed forecasts about their country’s bitter conflict that has left more than 60,000 people dead, some Syrians have turned to fortune tellers and astrology to try to predict what lies ahead.”

“Famed Lebanese medium,” Maguy Farah has predicted that Assad would leave office in March, according to the article.  The conflict in Syria has been going on for almost 2 years.  An unnamed Syrian business woman is quoted about the battle:

“After decades of stability, Syria’s war has ravaged much of the country, struck the economy hard and turned everyday life into a struggle for survival riddled with uncertainty.”
