Townsend Atelier presents this upcoming sculpture workshop at their downtown gallery with instructor Brian Booth Craig. Details from the press release:
Townsend Atelier is pleased to announce a week-long workshop with internationally recognized sculptor and instructor, is a prolific sculptor and Brian is currently the Chair of the Sculpture Department at the Lyme Academy of Fine Art in Connecticut. He attended The New York Academy of Art and Pennsylvania State University. He has extensive experience in executing monumental sculpture and has served as assistant to Audrey Flack on numerous projects and to Nina Akumu onLeonardo Da Vinci’s Horse. He has taught figure drawing and sculpture workshops throughout the world including Grand Central Academy in New York, the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, in Pennsylvania, and Rome, Italy. Working from a live model for one week, this workshop will introduce students to the basic techniques and traditions of sculpting the human figure in clay. An emphasis will be placed upon the study of linear and volumetric proportions, composition and gesture. Basic anatomy will be discussed and utilized in conjunction with strategies for enhancing perceptual abilities through direct observation of the live model. Students will work on one 28″ full figure.
Cost: $600/includes model fee
