This article by TG Daily reports about a team of astronomers witnessing the formation of a new star and its “proto-planets”.  The ALMA telescope in the Chilean Desert has been set up to record this powerful star formation.  Here’s more from the article by author Flora Malein:

“While it is understood how the young planets grow at this time, pulling in matter from the giant dust clouds which surround them, until now scientists have not known how the young star also continues to grow at this time.”

Evidence about this solar system formation has been published by Nature Publishing Group.  The paper is entitled, “Flows of gas through a protoplanetary gap.”
